Area of HK is only 1075 square kilometers. It consists of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon & the New Territories as well as many other island.

HK has 6.8656 million people before 2001. Before 1997,98% of the population are Chinese but now only about 93% of the population are Chinese. The remainder of the population are mainly Indian, Europeans,Americans,Korean, Japanese...

HK is a tiny spot on the south eastern coast of China, but is rich? Trade is good in HK.People come to HK to buy and sell things. We also have many factories that make things that we can sell abroad? Woo, most factories move to Mainland China & lots of HK worker lose their job, but the label is still Made in Hong Kong. For example, in 1992 384,236 people were employed in the industry. However in 1993 decrease 27,879 jobs. How about today? More & more people lose their job. A lot of people want to trade with China they often come to HK first? That'a a dream.

Why has HK developed into a rich trading & industrial center? HK has a safe harbour called Victoria Harbour.The hill of HK Island & Kowloon protect the harbours when there are storms.

HK city is not a very pleasant place to live. There is noise & air pollution as too many high buildings & heavy traffic fills the air with exhaust fumes. However, many country areas remain pockets of great peace & beauty. Many Visitors & Local people go to countryside get a feel for the ancient Chinese culture. The best way to travel through those areas is by bicycle & this's the most important reason for local people visit countryside. Bicycle is not allowed in the HK city.
However, the countryside people don't want to protect & preserve its natural beauty.This is because people led a very hard life. They want to development.
